How Wonderland Novels Started Blogging-SBPT||❤

Hello everyone,
Today the wonderful Alice and Yillang are on my blog to write a bit about how they got together to start a blog!!!

Alice and I met during sophomore year of high school and one of our common interests was reading books! We would always talk about books together and during our senior year of high school, we heard that Book Expo America was also doing a convention for books (BookCon) that was open to the public so we decided to go together. It was after the convention that we decided to get into blogging together to spread and write about our love for reading. We've faced some challenges among the way, especially when we were both busy with college and weren't able to post as much. But we both love blogging and coming up with posts together. Having a blog gives us a wonderful outlet to share our love for books with everybody!

What an amazing story! Just to show how blogging is not all about books but finding friends with common interests and sharing it with the internet. Thanks for stopping by Alice and Yillang!

Books That Made Me Cry Featuring Biblio Smiles-SBPT||❤

Hello Everbody,
Today on my blog for this tour will be the lovely Danielle of Biblio Smiles! Get ready for the feels people because this post is all about it! Take it away:

Sometimes I think I use books solely for the purpose of making myself cry.
Losing yourself in a good cry is cathartic, and I highly recommend it.
If you’re looking for stories with unforgettable characters, beautiful dialogue, and scenes that play out vividly in your mind and heart, be sure to pick up these three reads. But please, don’t forget the tissues.

Me Before You by Jojo Moyes
(Note: Be sure to read this one before the movie comes out next year!)
A snippet from the synopsis calls Me Before You a “heartbreakingly romantic novel that asks, What do you do when making the person you love happy also means breaking your own heart?”
The majority of the book’s narration is through the point of view of Louisa Clark. She is chatty, and pleasant, and incredibly comfortable in her hometown. When she loses her job at a cafe and interviews for a caretaker position, she gets a real wake-up call.
She becomes a companion for Will, a thirty-something quadriplegic who, before his accident, was a high-powered businessman with a taste for adventure. Wheelchair-bound and entirely dependent on others, Will is a shadow of his former self. Louisa soon learns that her position in Will’s life holds a weight that she may not be prepared for.
This is a stunning book. It’s painful, but inspiring, and life-affirming. If you’re looking for a book to make you laugh, and cry, and want to get out there and live: read Me Before You. It will not disappoint.
(Hopefully the movie will not disappoint, either!)

Z: A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald by Therese Anne Fowler
Zelda and Scott Fitzgerald were the “it” couple of the 1920s. Fowler describes the luxurious, booze-fueled early days of the Fitzgerald marriage in such charming details that I dreamed of tagging along. I loved reading these accounts from Zelda’s perspective, as she makes herself over into the flapper of Scott’s stories.
Therese Anne Fowler paints a portrait of the Fitzgeralds that is relatable and touching. Zelda, a beautiful and outgoing young woman, is swept into Scott’s exciting life. Despite her family’s misgivings, Zelda marries Scott. This decision ultimately shapes the rest of her life.
As the years pass and the Fitzgerald’s marriage is challenged by financial hardships, emotional breakdowns, and the presence of one well-written (if infuriating!) Ernest Hemingway, Fowler showcases a marriage that struggles, despite the odds. What we have here is a pair of people who are both brilliant and deeply troubled. They achieve success, but they must also live with depression and failure. There is so much emotion in these pages. I couldn’t put this book down.

And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini
Once again, the author of The Kite Runner delivers another thought-provoking, powerful story about love and the choices we make. Hosseini’s newest novel focuses on a myriad of characters from around the globe. He masterfully links the narratives together, and this kept me saying “aha!” whenever I made a new connection between narrators.
What begins as a story about a father’s choice and the strong bond between a brother and sister becomes so much more. The reader is shuffled back and forth through time and place, from a small village in Afghanistan in the 1950s to modern-day San Francisco, even stopping in France and Greece. The scope of the novel seems huge at first, and overwhelming in its number of characters and their hardships, but at a certain point: it all just clicks.
“Human behavior is messy and unpredictable and unconcerned with convenient symmetries,” the novel states. As the tears roll, you will understand so much about the fragility of relationships, the implications of selfishness, and the strength of love.

I think this is something that I’ve come to understand from all three of these books.  Books that elicit emotional responses, in my opinion, are doing their job right.  Don’t you think so?

Thanks so much for having me, Naomi!

Favourite Series Finales Featuring The Writing Duo-SBPT||❤

Hello everyone,

We’re Sarena and Sasha, twin sisters, teen authors, and book bloggers over at The Writing Duo. We’re so excited to be here to talk about our favourite series finales! We love series, especially when they’re done right with a perfect last book. Here is our list:

1.  HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS. Because it’s Harry Potter—how could you hate that ending? Although I could’ve done without one of the characters’ deaths…

2.THE LAST OLYMPIAN by Rick Riordan. The ending the Percy Jackson series was awesome, especially with the epic spin-off series! We wouldn’t say Blood of Olympus was as strong a finale as The Last Olympian, though.

3.VICIOUS, THE GOOD GIRLS, and SEVEN MINUTES IN HEAVEN all by Sara Shepard. These three series finales (lasts books in the PLL, Perfectionists, and Lying Game series) were all amazing endings that tied the series’ off well!

4.THE DEATH CODE by Lindsay Cummings. We both read this in May/June and loved it. It was full of adventure, mystery, and plot twists… definitely one of the best dystopia series finales ever.

5.CLOCKWORK PRINCESS by Cassandra Clare. If you did not feel all the feels while reading this book, are you even human?

6.ABHORSEN by Garth Nix, the series finale to the Old Kingdom series. Sabriel is one of Sarena’s favourite books, and she loved Abhorsen as well! A great high fantasy series for all!

7. DREAMS OF GODS AND MONSTERS by Laini Taylor, aka the goddess of YA. Like, seriously. This series is fantastic and so unique and you must read it if you haven’t! DoGaM was the perfect ending.

8.THE WRATH OF MULGARATH by Holly Black. What an epic series finale to the Spiderwick Chronicles. Sasha might’ve even teared up a little. Maybe.

Thanks for having us, Naomi! It was lots of fun. :)

Sarena and Sasha Nanua are teenage twins living in Mississauga, Ontario. They love reading books in their spare time and enjoy science fiction and fantasy novels. They have been writing books since they were nine years old. The Gemstone is their first novel.

Favourite Genres Featuring The Book Bratz-SBPT Tour||❤

Hello Everyone,

Today kicks of the start of a wonderful tour I will be participating in each Sunday over these next 8 weeks called the Summer Blogger Promo Tour where new bloggers will feature on my blog each week with something interesting. What is better than having the beautiful Tour Hosts themselves for my first post? I am pleased to welcome Amber and Jessica from The Book Bratz talking about their favourtie genres.

---

Jessica's Favourite Genre is.....

My favorite YA genre of all time is Contemporary. I've dabbled with some mystery, and thriller, and paranormal/fantasy - and there are plenty of books that I've read in these genres that I've really enjoyed - but no book draws me in more than a good YA Contemporary novel. I'm not entirely sure why this is - I guess because I'm an author myself and I write YA Contemporary, so I'm obviously a little biased - but there's something about the genre that I really like. I guess it's the fact that what happens to the characters in the story always have a chance of happening to you...I mean, like in Famous in Love, the main character gets to be an average girl that stars in a movie. Even if the likelihood of you starring in a movie in your real life is pretty slim, it's still possible. Boy drama in YA Contemp? Possible. Friend drama? Possible. Losing a parent or a friend or a loved one? Probably experienced it. Bullying? You've either been a bully or been bullied. Summer love? Who hasn't gone there? There isn't a zero percent chance that the plot won't apply to you, or couldn't apply to you. Because it can, and I like that. You don't get that with fantasy novels and paranormal novels and such - the odds of being a demon or vampire, are, realistically, zero for you. But I find the YA Contemporary genre so relateable! I'm able to jump right into the main character's head and follow the story and experience the same reactions and emotions - because it's a familiar plane for me.
Top Three Books From Contemporary
My top three favorite YA Contemporary books would have to be Looking for Alaska by John Green (my absolute favorite book of all time), The Fault in Our Stars by John Green (again, he is my favorite author of all time), and I'll Meet You There by Heather Demetrios. I loved all three of those books, and I still do, and I'm able to reread them again and again and slip into the minds of the characters without an ounce of hesitation. That's why YA Contemporary is awesome for me!

~
Amber's Favourite Genre is....

My favorite genre is easily Science Fiction. I love reading about the impossible or almost impossible. I also really enjoy seeing all these worlds that authors have made up for their readers. the possibilities are endless! O read other genres but when I am in a slump it always takes a good Sci-fi to get me out of it!

Thank you Amber and Jessica for stopping by at my blog!!
