Cross My Heart&Hope To Spy-A Book Review||❤

Cross My Heart & Hope To Spy (#2)
By Ally Carter
Publication Date: October 2nd 2007 (this edition 2010)

Cammie Morgan may have a genius IQ and attend the best school in the country, but as she starts the spring semester of her sophomore year there are a lot of things she doesn't know. Like will her ex-boyfriend even remember she exists? And how much trouble did she really get in last semester? And, most of all, exactly why is her mother acting so strangely?

All Cammie wants is a nice, normal semester, but she's about to learn her greatest lesson yet—that when you go to a school for spies, nothing is ever as it seems.

I had said in my review of the first book that I wanted the second book in the series to be better and well, today you are going to find out! Cross My Heart & Hope to spy follows the lives of Cameron Morgan and her friends Bex, Liz and Macey who attend the prestigious Gallagher Academy. Cammie is still recovering from her heart break and bumping into Josh in town was not helping! And to top it all off her mum in hiding something. Blackthorne. She doesn't know what it is but if it means rummaging through her mums draws to find a 'nail clipper' and installing a camera which takes pictures every 90 seconds, then it must be important. Then events turn, suddenly doing your hair up is more important. What could it be??

I actually kind of liked this book. It was extremely  and it made me giggle at some moments. I was laughing at some of the situations and sitting for hours just to finish this book. It is one of those books where you just can't wait to finish off the whole series. It is different to what I usually read. Around a year ago these were the types of book I would always take out of the library and I am slowly crawling back to them slyly. It was quite refreshing for me to take a break from all the fast paced thrillers I have been reading lately and swoon at the romance in this book.

Overall, I really did like the book. It made me feel my age a bit and it wasn't too adult, it told jokes I understood and it didn't use exceptionally long sentences to describe their eyelashes which was an actual relief!!

A Series A Month||❤

I saw this tag on someone else's blog who tries to continue/start a new book series each month. When I next come across their blog I will definitely link them here or if anyone finds them please tell me!

So this month I have decided to start the Gone Series By Michael Grant. This series has been raved about by quite a lot of people and to be honest it does look amazing! I do wish to start it soon and I am actually starting to move onto the book after I rake through Vampire Academy.

Also, I would like to continue and finish reading the Gallagher Girls series because it is cute and a brilliant quick read. I do want to see how the characters will develop!!
So that is it really, a fun tag thingy. I hope this becomes a really massive thing because it was actually fun to do. Plus I hope you guys are liking my active posting week, you know, just to keep things running.

Seven Deadly Sins Tag||❤

Hi guys!
This week I decided to be more active with my posts my doing something everyday this week! (it's half term by the way). So today, as the title tells you, I am doing the Seven Deadly Sins Tag. I was tagged by Anna @Enchanted By YA.

Greed - What is your most expensive book? What is your most inexpensive book?
 Most Expensive: The truth is that I have never actually bought a really expensive book for myself. It is usually gifted to me but it might have to be The Naughtiest Girl in The School box set when it was still £50 which is actually quite cheap for a set of books.
Inexpensive: This is quite a babyish one,Princess Mirror Belle, but when I was younger my primary school used to hold a mini fair every year and I picked out a book. It ended up being around 20p. Also, my local library  has this thing in the children's library where you can by books for around 30p, it is usually the ones which no one takes out but they do actually end up being some good books.

Wrath - What author do you have a love/hate relationship with?
I do really have to copy Anna on this one and say the Divergent Trilogy, I kind of liked the first book, the second one had me sleeping a bit and the third book had me banging my head against the table, I didn't even get to complete the series! I do love the concept though.

Gluttony - What book have you devoured over and over with

no shame?
This would have to be Harry Potter and The Chamber Of Secrets. I always stumble across this book every single summer and I can literally recite the whole thing now.

Sloth - What book have you neglected due to laziness?
I had a copy of the Mortal Instruments series and I keep on wanting to start it but new books which I love to read keep on popping up on my bookshelf! I still can't find the time to read it!!

Pride - What book do you talk about in order to sound like an intellectual reader?
Any classic book or I start to mumble about the allegorical meaning of George Orwell. Or the techniques Jane Austen uses to create a tense atmosphere!

Lust - What attributes do you find attractive in male or female characters?
I do love the bad boy characters who have a soft spot. The ones who have a hard shell but a soft inside- like a ferrero rocher.

Envy-What book would you most like to receive as a gift?
A Thousand Pieces Of You! Can this come to my doorstep all ready!
This was actually a really fun tag to do!!  As you can notice haven't actually tagged anyone.

I don't like tagging people because I don't know if the have already done it and I don't want to look pesky!

The Coldest Girl In Cold Town-A Book Review||❤

The Coldest Girl In Coldtown
By Holly Black
Publication Date: September 3rd 2013

Tana lives in a world where walled cities called Coldtowns exist. In them, quarantined monsters and humans mingle in a decadently bloody mix of predator and prey. The only problem is, once you pass through Coldtown’s gates, you can never leave.

One morning, after a perfectly ordinary party, Tana wakes up surrounded by corpses. The only other survivors of this massacre are her exasperatingly endearing ex-boyfriend, infected and on the edge, and a mysterious boy burdened with a terrible secret. Shaken and determined, Tana enters a race against the clock to save the three of them the only way she knows how: by going straight to the wicked, opulent heart of Coldtown itself.

This book is the mother of all books. I am usually sketchy when it comes to books about vampires and sometimes find myself banging my head against the table asking why some of them had to be so terrible. This turned a completely new page to me. It wasn't a hopeless romantic book, it wasn't about being saved every minute by a pale hunk who 'glistened under the sun' it was different and that was what I loved about it. Who would've thought of such a great concept and I really do congratulate Holly Black. I haven't been able to find time to sit down and read for hours but this book had me on the edge of my seat. The plot twists, the sneaky characters and the flashback!

In addition, I loved how the author added in quotes from many different authors about death and it suddenly added a sense of darkness to each chapter and you sit there thinking whether or not it would link to it. I also loved how in between each chapter there was either a flashback or someone doing something outside of the gates. I was hooked! This book would make a perfect horror movie, I could already imagine the dark setting and the endless parties! It makes me want to go to a Coldtown.
The ending of this book killed me! I sat there for ages flipping around the pages craving more but sadly I was greeted by plain sheets of paper. The ending was perfect, I loved how it took you back to a game which is mentioned in the first chapter. This is by far the best book I have read so far this year! This has changed my views on vampire novels and has now set my standards higher.

Overall, I would give this book a solid 5/5. The quick pace and the mysterious romance made it untouchable. I never thought that such characters could suddenly turn into monsters.

From Book One:
“Did she hurt you?" Taren asked. "Your head hit the tile pretty hard.” That explained the spinning, and the pain that was starting to seep through the cracks of my shock.
I reached up to touch the back of my head.
“Ow! Yeah, I guess she got me pretty good. What was that about, anyway?  What's her problem with me?”
Before he could answer, one of the nurses approached. “We'll get you checked out now, dear.”
“I was just going to get her some ice,” Taren said, his hand on the small of my back, steering me away from the nurse.
“Don't be silly,” the nurse said. “She could have a concussion. We need to take her to the E.R.”
While she went to confer with an orderly, I stifled a laugh. I had been wanting to get out of there. Maybe if my mother knew I was just as likely to lose my life inside the mental hospital as out, she'd spring me that much sooner.
“Wait.” Taren leaned close, his breath in my ear. My pulse went back to racing. “Do you have any…birthmarks?”
His question was so bizarre that I was heedless of the pain and snapped my head to face him.
“What?”
His eyes were only inches away, boring into mine. He grabbed my wrist and pushed up the sleeve of my hoodie, searching. I tried to pull away, but his grip was too strong.
“Do you?” he asked again, checking the other arm.
“N-no,” I stammered.
Intensity didn't usually unnerve me, but at that moment, his definitely did.
“Taren, enough!” the nurse said, hurrying back to us. “What on earth are you doing?”
She pried his hands from my arm, causing Taren to come back to himself.
“Nothing, sorry.” He dropped his gaze. “Sorry, I hope you feel better.”

He turned abruptly and strode away.

Twilight-A Book Review||❤

Twilight (#1)
By Stephenie Meyers
Publication Date: September 6th 2006
About three things I was absolutely positive:

First, Edward was a vampire.

Second, there was a part of him - and I didn't know how dominant that part might be - that thirsted for my blood.

And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him.

When Bella Swan moves to the gloomy town of Forks and meets Edward Cullen, her life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. With his porcelain skin, golden eyes, mesmerizing voice, and supernatural gifts, Edward is both irresistible and impenetrable. Up until now, he has managed to keep his true identity hidden, but Bella is determined to uncover his dark secret.

What Bella doesn't realize is the closer she gets to him, the more she is putting herself and those around her at risk. And it might be too late to turn back...

My Thoughts.....
When I first read this book I was completely confused. I loved the simple cover and the description and I do still question myself to this day how I had pulled through that book. The first parts were awesome and I don't understand all the hate it was getting. I can not lie and say it was terrible when it was actually decent. It was just the tiny things which annoyed me. I got myself lost so many times, flicking back some pages to try and register everything. I still don't get the creepy staring stuff though.

The love story. I must congratulate Stephenie Meyers on this one. It wasn't too fast paced, it wasn't too cringe worthy that I wanted to dig myself in a hole. I do think the movie producers on this one did over dramatise their stares across the room. It wasn't that bad in the book. It wasn't like she was throwing herself upon him it was just small talk and conversation. Although I did sink into my seat at times it wasn't Divergent style (I hate divergent) and I loved it!
There is a tiny part of me which doesn't agree with the book. It was just that I felt like Bella relied on Edward for everything. I thought that she was meant to stay true to herself and be strong by herself but I found at times that it was all about Edward. Edward had to watch her when she slept, carry her when she was injured, protect her from other people when really she could've done all this herself. She doesn't necessarily need to look like the vulnerable female but I really wanted her to fight off everyone by herself!

I would give this book a 3.5/5 because it really was a really good which is definitely underrated! If you ever thought it was horrible, pick it up and read it again like I did. I just followed what everyone said and thought it was terrible and should be banished. But I am surprised at how much I actually like the book!

Need-A Book Review||❤

Need
By Carrie Jones
Publication Date: 23rd December 2008

Pain shoots through my head. Fireworks. Explosions. All inside my brain. The white world goes dark and I know what's about to happen.

Zara White suspects there's a freaky guy semi-stalking her. She's also obsessed with phobias. And it's true, she hasn't exactly been herself since her stepfather died. But exiling her to shivery Maine to live with her grandmother? That seems a bit extreme. The move is supposed to help her stay sane...but Zara's pretty sure her mom just can't deal with her right now.

She couldn't be more wrong. Turns out the semi-stalker is not a figment of Zara's overactive imagination. In fact, he's still following her, leaving behind an eerie trail of gold dust. There's something not right - not human - in this sleepy Maine town, and all signs point to Zara.

In this creepy, compelling breakout novel, Carrie Jones delivers romance, suspense, and a creature you never thought you'd have to fear.

When I first picked out the book, I was quite creeper out by the lips on the cover. Trees at the bottom made me shiver but they do say to never judge a book by its cover so I had to let go on that one. I was intrigued by the mysterious creature and the significance of the gold glitter stuff (that's the best way I can describe it.) I loved how each chapter was a new phobia and I kept a tiny little page which I list all the new phobias I have learnt. It might sound weird but I really do want to be able to recite phobias from the top of my head. Am I the only one? Yep. *Awkwardly walks away*

But anyway, this book had an amazing start. The stalkerish feel to it, the man who called her name all the time it was brilliant! Then it just shot me right through the head when they brought in werewolves, like seriously, I didn't want another twilight in my hands. It was all going so well and then BAM the frikking werewolves and alphas had to come in. I felt like slamming a brick wall multiple times against my forehead, Such a good book with a brilliant concept ruined by werewolves. I wrapped my self up into a ball cringing at the whole protective mumbo jumbo. The pixie idea was brilliant though, it brought a whole evil shadow to them and it actually gave me some freaky nightmares about pixies but thats what I like about it!

I do seem to have a mixed point of view with this book, I mean the plot was brilliant but the twilight type thingy wasn't doing it for me. It was just that part in the middle which made me shiver but I did like the ending of the book and I do want to read more of the series.
I would give it a 3.5/5 stars!

Cameo-A Book Review||❤

Title: Cameo
Author: Tanille Edwards
Genre: YA thriller / romance
New Pop R & B Song "Baby Comeback to Me" by Tanille are included.
Email us Music@Tanille.com for your songs. Cameo by Tanille is your next sinful beach read. Be 17 again! This page turning who done it is packed with mystery, drama, and steam. Nia is a high school beauty who discovers she's being stalked by someone in a secret underground society. Everyone is suspect. The pressure is mounting and problems are stacking up. Who is behind all of this? Which one of her friends is connected with this secret society? And why?

My Thoughts?
I have mixed feelings about this book. It instantly drew me in with the secret society and the high school setting. It was fast paced like it was meant to be as a thriller and I did enjoy it quite a bit. Nia, the main character, was a mix of Serena Van Der Woodsen and Blair Waldorf to me and I loved her quirky character and her cool mindset.
This book I would recommend as one of those short reads you would read and enjoy on a train ride or a break time or even on a short plane ride. I think it would be aimed more at the people who are looking for drama and romance like one of those dramatic Pretty Little Liars types of shows. Although Gossip Girl is my weak spot, this wasn't really my cup of tea personally because thriller/romance is my genre 'phase'. I am still trying to pry myself away from dystopia and be open to different types of books but I would seriously recommend it to people who like dramatic mystery books. I would love to read more of Tanille Edwards books and make sure when you buy your own to the free songs!

The Ten Book Challenge||❤

I was tagged by Anna @enchantedbyya so thanks for that!
The Rules are:
List 10 books that have stayed with you in some way. Do not take more than a few minutes, and do not think about it too hard. They do not have to be the "right books", or great works of literature, just ones that have affected you in some way. Paste these instructions and tag 10 friends, including me, so I can see your list!

Fault In Our Stars by John Green:
This book was the first book which made me cry my eyes out, it was so heart-warming and I didn't expect much from it. It surprised me so much and I have read it so many times!

Witches by Roald Dahl:
What a classic book, right? Roald Dahl's books were one of the first proper books I ever read. It brings back the memories of repeatedly reading them although I had read all of his books multiple times. This book is so funny and was so interesting that I actually thought these witches were real and would look out for women wearing pointy shoes!

Harry Potter by J.K Rowling:
These books are brilliant! I am addicted to this whole story and I just wanted my acceptance letter to Hogwarts! It is a brilliant series which made my imagination go wild and I love it.

Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging:
This book is life to me! I have never laughed so much in my life!! I loved how it fit my personality, I fell in love with all of the characters and I just wanted to be friends with all of the characters! I was crying and helplessly clutching my stomach whenever I read the series!

Gossip Girl:
I feel guilty for even liking this series! It is just so addictive though.... I am obsessed with America and Ivy League Universities and things like that and it makes me want to jump into that the life. I must add it was very melodramatic but I just loved the gossip and I found myself whispering all the time 'you know you love me, xoxo, gossip girl'

Skulldugery Pleasant:
This books is legendary! A skeleton who is a dectective, what more would I want?  A brillant primary school/middle school read! Absolutely loved it to bits.

Journey To The River Sea:
An absolutely beautiful book. I love Eva Ibbotsons books and it was just so beautiful to read when I was younger.
The Naughtiest Girl Series by Enid Blyton:
I told my mum I wanted books for christmas when I was around 7/8 years old and my my gave me a fresh boxset of this whole series! I was delighted, it made me want to join the school, I always dreamed about being a part of it and was my childhood dream. I must add in that I would've rather gone to Whyteleafe than to Hogwarts!

The Secret Garden:
I have read this book so many times! I can literally recite all the chapters but the weird thing is that wh(enever I read the book I think about it differently every time I read it.

The Wizard Of Oz:
This book is absolutely brilliant! It takes me to Oz and after reading it I never wanted to enter the real world. I could compare the classic film to the book as I read along. It was playful and brought had me smiling from ear to ear.

So guys, this is my top ten, I hope you enjoyed it and I apologise so much for not posting this week or even last. With all the workload being pushed on me and I have to read another classic book, keep a reading journal (only for select classic authors e.g. Robert Louis Stephenson, James Joyce, Jane Austen etc.) keeping that up is hard, my music exams are in two months and I still have to learn my violin pieces, I have to keep my artwork at a high standard, I am working on my composition for music, I have stuff to do for Religious Studies, science work and a whole lot more to keep up with so please bare with me! I am extremely sorry and I will try and post at least once or twice a week but feel free to tell me your blogs so I can interact with the people who actually view my blog. I am not prepared to sit through detentions so I am trying to get all of my work and blog done and around 1 hour 30 minutes it spent on doing my instruments and music theory. Also I am sticking to reading at least 1 book a week or even 2 if I haven't collapsed on my bed at night already!

(Not tagging anyone btw!)

Keep Reading,
Naomi...xxx
