Music I Listen To Whilst Reading (#2)||❤

Hi Guys,
I haven't done a post about listening to music in a while so I decided to share with you some of the things I listen to whilst reading.

Today will be a bit different as I have two artists to show you. One is a late-romantics composer and the other is modern.

Jean Sibelius Violin Concerto Op. 47 in D minor

 A fun fact about me is that I am very much into Baroque and Romantics music. Sibelius is one of my all time favourite composers and I love to follow the sheet music sometimes when I listen to it, of course when I am not reading. This was infact the only concerto he wrote. A concerto is basically when one instrument plays a solo and the whole orchestra accompanies it. It takes a whole lot of music theory to work out different parts of the piece and it has 4 movements.

1. Allegro Moderato-meaning moderately fast and is the dramatic part of the piece.
2. Adagio di molto in Bflat Major- This is basically the slow part of the music and is brilliant
3.  Allegro, ma lo tanto in D Major- This is the finale of the piece! It repeats some segments of the first piece and is a great ending to a brilliant piece.

Although it may look like a bore, check out some 'classical' (in inverted commas because technically it is romantics but people label it as classical) music because it actually not that boring plus it over excites me when I talk about this kind of stuff. I was about to go into relative majors/minors, harmonic scales and tempo changes but I will spare you your time.

Daughter

If you are looking for an indie and acoustic sound, Daughter is the band for you. Whenever I listen to their music I instantly get chills and it just brings me joy. It also makes me feel chilled out and I love to listen to them whenever I want to block out any sound surrounding me

An Interview with The Tattooed Biblio-SBPT||❤

Hello guys, today I am interviewing the wonderful Lauren @The Tattooed Biblio who is a big book blogger and it is a very exciting oppourtunity!

How do you handle blogging and your everyday life? I usually blog and taking photos for my bookstagram around 1 or 2am. I'm a night owl. Which means I also never get 8 hours of sleep, but I have a sleep disorder so... no one wins this round. Haha.  

What is it like to co-blog at one of the biggest book blogs in the book bloggersphere? It's humbling. I've known the co-bloggers for years, especially Jamie. We were the first of the infamous Goodreads Group "College Students." They all have a special place in my heart.  

What do you like to do other than blog and read books? I am an amazing backseat commentator for just about everything... when people play video games, when watching movies... the list goes on. My and my little doxie take walks and have a good time with it. And work. Yeah.. just work.  

What is one book you loathe? Every book by EL James. That's all I'm going to say or I'll get fired up.  

What are you book turn offs? Words spelled incorrectly and grammar mistakes when I'm pretty sure the book has been through countless edits.   

How did you start blogging? I discovered the Goodreads groups and community there way before blogging. Then all my book loving friends started blogging and I just hopped on the train!  

What are your tips for someone who wants to start a book blog? Do WHATEVER you want with it. It's your blog. You don't have to do cover reveals, host numerous giveaways, or do so many book reviews per week. It's yours. Do whatever the hell you want with it!

Blogging:Things I Suck At||❤

Hi guys,

Today I decided to do a post which I saw on Amber's (The Mile Long Bookshelf) blog and I thought. Why the hell not do it? I do suck at a lot of things when it comes to blogging and I am still learning the ropes after the years so, today I have decided to share my embarrassment with the internet.

Comments:

I am talking specifically about talking about replying to comments. Whenever someone comments on my blog I get extremely excited but my problem is that I don’t know how to respond. I don’t want to write too much or say a completely irrelevant thing or want to look rude. I usually end them with a cringe worthy “:)” when I am not really happy but dreading how weird they will think I am when they see how I had replied. Sorry if I don’t reply to comments that much because I am actually a virtually awkward human.

Scheduling Posts:

I am extremely bad at this. Sometimes I try and schedule my posts like 3 weeks ahead and edit them on the way but usually I end up writing a review the day before I post it because I get distracted so easily. It is just a thing I am not good at which is being organised. Naomi and organised do not deserve to be in the same sentence.

Looks:

Blog Design. I am not good at this at all. My blog used to have like a crappy white background with my title at the top and a clutter of nonsense on the right side bar. I like my latest template but I want something more different and more me as my template so I might have to invest in getting one custom made.

Writing Posts:

In general, I am quite a talkative person which means that I have no off button. I can barely stay in the same place for 3 minutes without tapping my foot or bouncing my leg or tearing whatever is infront of me. I have no off switch button which is why I opted for booktube at first but I just wasn’t ready to start posting videos at that time. I am not a silent typer at all, I say what I say then type it down but somehow it is filled with “like”, “Omg”, “Lol”, and “AF”. I usually edit those bits out so you can’t see them in my posts.

Favourite Genres Featuring The Book Bratz-SBPT Tour||❤

Hello Everyone,

What is better than having the beautiful Tour Hosts themselves for my first post? I am pleased to welcome Amber and Jessica from The Book Bratz talking about their favourtie genres.

Jessica's Favourite Genre is.....

My favorite YA genre of all time is Contemporary. I've dabbled with some mystery, and thriller, and paranormal/fantasy - and there are plenty of books that I've read in these genres that I've really enjoyed - but no book draws me in more than a good YA Contemporary novel. I'm not entirely sure why this is - I guess because I'm an author myself and I write YA Contemporary, so I'm obviously a little biased - but there's something about the genre that I really like. I guess it's the fact that what happens to the characters in the story always have a chance of happening to you...I mean, like in Famous in Love, the main character gets to be an average girl that stars in a movie. Even if the likelihood of you starring in a movie in your real life is pretty slim, it's still possible. Boy drama in YA Contemp? Possible. Friend drama? Possible. Losing a parent or a friend or a loved one? Probably experienced it. Bullying? You've either been a bully or been bullied. Summer love? Who hasn't gone there? There isn't a zero percent chance that the plot won't apply to you, or couldn't apply to you. Because it can, and I like that. You don't get that with fantasy novels and paranormal novels and such - the odds of being a demon or vampire, are, realistically, zero for you. But I find the YA Contemporary genre so relateable! I'm able to jump right into the main character's head and follow the story and experience the same reactions and emotions - because it's a familiar plane for me.

Top Three Books From Contemporary 

My top three favorite YA Contemporary books would have to be Looking for Alaska by John Green (my absolute favorite book of all time), The Fault in Our Stars by John Green (again, he is my favorite author of all time), and I'll Meet You There by Heather Demetrios. I loved all three of those books, and I still do, and I'm able to reread them again and again and slip into the minds of the characters without an ounce of hesitation. That's why YA Contemporary is awesome for me!

Amber's Favourite Genre is....

My favorite genre is easily Science Fiction. I love reading about the impossible or almost impossible. I also really enjoy seeing all these worlds that authors have made up for their readers. the possibilities are endless! O read other genres but when I am in a slump it always takes a good Sci-fi to get me out of it!

Disscussion:Why Is Every Dystopian Book Compared To The Hunger Games?

 Hello,

This is a topic which has been annoying me for a very long time. Nearly every single Dystopian book will say at the front of it 'Similar to the Hunger Games' or 'Even better than the Hunger Games'. It seems to me that people now think that every single dystopian book bows down to the Hunger Games like it was the creator of the Dystopian genre. Now, I am all Hunger Games. I adored the series, loved the films and I can quote it from the top of my head but when I tried to explain Throne Of Glass to my peers in music (my composition, film music, was based off the book) they said 'you mean basically the Hunger Games'. My jaw dropped and I wanted to fall out of my chair. It seems to me that it is harder now for any author to publish a dystopian novel without being compared to the popular book and film series.

I think now that using The Hunger Games has become a strategy to sell books to people. Non-readers would think 'oh The Hunger Games, I read that maybe I should that book' and when they actually read it, it is about fairies warding off trolls in a world where trolls have the almighty power (I made up that idea on the spot btw). Does that have anything to do with going into an arena to fight other people your age then uprise againt the Capitol, erm I think not. This problem also sparks in books with Vampires in it. If I say this book has vampires in it. people internally groan and think TWILIGHT TWIGHLIGHT TWILIGHT.

My problem here is I think that each book has its own identity in the Dystopian genre and should be known for other books other than the Hunger Games. The Hunger Games is just a small part of a massive field filled with so many other books but people seem to think that by putting things onto that patch it would suddenly make things seems better than they already are. I think that we need to stop getting into this 'basically the Hunger Games' mindset just because the person is an assasin or the person has brown hair and wears it in a braid.

In conclusion, I think it is about time we stepped out of our fixed mindsets and not compare so many books to the Hunger Games because it is the easier way round. It just makes it look like the Dystopian Genre is all the same when it is most definitely not!

I listen to music sometimes when I read and I feel like it sets the mood when I read. Today I want to share the music that I listen to whilst I am reading! I would like to pick one artist every month or so whoI could recommend to you!

LEWIS WATSON:His songs are amazing! All his music is so raw and that is what I love about his songs. I always find myself singing his songs when I'm walking around. He is a great person to listen to when you read because his songs are quite upbeat and good for summery contemporary reads or even any other kind of book if you want something soft in the background.

Seriously check this guy out, he is brilliant!

Disscusion:How Important Are Book Bloggers?

I have seen this talked about through social media and I finally actually want to write a post about it. I saw a tweet about an angry author who was annoyed because a book blogger most likely didn't review the book, I guess, as he wanted to. He then went ahead to dismiss book bloggers and talk about how useless in the world of books. Today I want to talk about this and I want to see what other people think.

ARCs are sent out to send a buzz and spark publicity but people most of the people who read books have no time to go online and see what Book Bloggers say about when they can get a review easily from a professional online from big newspapers such as the Guardian. Book bloggers don't really help the sales of a book go up massively and that can be an argument but book bloggers are honest reviewers from around the world and our ages range from 9-90 years old (maybe even older!). If you authors or publishers want a review from a regular person who reads books as a hobby and it enthusiastic about it the book bloggers and people are part of sites like Goodreads definitely the answer. It just annoys me how we are not valued as much as reviewers.

I do believe that Book Bloggers are just as important in the bloggers community as any other reviewer out in the professional world. We might not have years of experience of working for big firms but honesty is the best policy. The book lovers just like me and you are venturing out and making sure our love for books is spread. Let us not forget how we are endlessly and eagerly talk about books which we love on Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram etc. I am definitely not trying to say that every single author and publisher hates our guts and would rather burn the books than give them to book reviews, I am trying to state the fact the book bloggers play a vital role in the whole book community in general and that how if we weren't there, who will be there to read your books. I personally have built my TBR pile before I even started book blogging from other book blogs and there are books I would have never heard about if it wasn't for them and their honest reviews.

This is my first ever discussion post and this is a topic I wanted to start off with!! Although it might be really jumpy, I want to carry on with these in the future!!

The DUFF-A Film Review||❤

The Duff
When people said that this film would be different, I didn't expect it to be So different it was completely alien to me. Yes, I do understand, films can't follow the book but this wasn't really 'The DUFF' anymore. It was like they flushed the whole meaning down the plug hole and out of the tap came a wannabe mean girls film.

This film was about Bianca, a girl whowas the 'duff' in her friendship group (The Designated Ugly and Fat Friend). When she is told so at a part by none other than Wesley Rush, a childhood best friend, she decides to recruit his help along the way distancing herself away from her friends.

This film had everything you didn't want in a film, cheesy acting, a weird storyline, cricket worthy lines which made me want to puke and a mean girl/disney star who was as intimidating as an orange. Mix this all together and you will make my worst nightmare. Mae Whitman was who definitely saved the film. Her witty personality and brilliant acting made me love Bianca as a character in this film. But who really stealer the show was Ken Jeong. Although he did have a minor role, he did inject some fun into the film and I found myself smiling the most at his parts.

What I didn't like about the film was that the book was almost dumbed down to fit younger audience. What the film was missing was the rawness from the book. Everything seemed to fake and set up that I had to force myself to sit through it. If they did go along with the book it would have been a more diverse film and a mature film. The DUFF does cover mature issues but this film felt like it deserved to be at the front of Nickelodeon promoting God knows what.

Overall I would give the film a 2/5. It wasn't good but I did smile around twice so it wasn't that bad. I wouldn't advise you to waste your money to see it. The Duff is a no no for me!

My Facts

1. I can play 4 instruments. My main ones are Violin and Voice which I spend most of my time doing and the ones I do not so seriously are the Piano and Guitar.
2. When I was younger my best friend flushed my hat down the toilet, I found it hilarious but my mum didn't think otherwise.
3. I have an obsession with butter. I will literally lather my toast in butter then spoon out some butter so I can dip my toast into it, I know it is sooo weird!
4. I am obsessed with Netflix and so watch around 4 TV series at once. I will literally sit in my bed all day finishing a series and I will only leave for snacks an food.
5. This blog is the longest blog I have updated regularly and used. I have had others years ago but I never bothered to use them, then my friend introduced me to booktube at first but I didn't want to do that specifically so I started a blog instead!

If I Stay-A Film Review||❤

If I Stay

Usually I complain a lot when books are adapted to films because they usually miss out key information which should be involved in the film but I do understand that not every wish can be come true.

This film lived up to my expectations surprisingly. I watched this film shortly after the book when the heavy heart-felt emotions toward the book were still present and I couldn't help but bawl my eyes out by the end of the film. I literally couldn't stop! I cried at Mia's and Adam's relationship, when her Grandfather was talking to her and I cried when the film ended because I wanted more. I loved how it was adapted and it was just as I had imagined.

The actors were brilliant. I loved Chloe Grace Mortez' portrayal of the Mia as a character. I heard that she actually took months of Cello lessons just so she could connect with her character and I think it worked because her performance was breathtaking! Jamie Blackley, *swoon*. He was just so amazing as Adam and I just wanted to have him. I couldn't help but stare at his beautiful face I mean who could have played Adam better? I know that some people didn't really like him but I really did feel like Chloe and Jamie had a great connection on screen/off screen which meant that it didn't feel as awkward as other films.

I do think that the film went a bit slow for me and it did drag on for a bit. That wasn't really that much of an issue but things could have been a bit quicker. On the bright side, I do hope that the second book will be made into a movie because that would complete my life!

I was so surprised that this book hasn't been published yet. At first I thought I was reading a proper book on my because it was so beautifully written. It was filled with so much emotion that I started crying when I finished the book. It wasn't cliché where they all had perfect lives, each character was as messed up as the next but somehow when they were together they were like a massive family. I aid definitely recommend this book for you to read on Wattpad because it is just fabulous!

How I Write My Reviews||❤

Some people can write their reviews in thirty minutes and some people take a couple of days to write one up. I would classify myself as a bit of both. I can write a review in thirty minutes but I proof read it every single day until the day it would be posted on.

When I read my book a usually take notes on it whilst reading. It is quite surprising how I have time to write down and take notes on books I am reading but I can't take notes or write down things in maths. The struggles!! Going back to topic, I like to write down notes on books because I am quite a forgetful person. I always forget some parts of the plot and I just find that taking notes helps me structure my reviews better. It also stops me from rambling which I do a lot and I am always going off topic. I do find that I try and mention how much I hate Divergent in my reviews as much as I can.

I don't know why but I just added a Miranda Sings picture at the bottom of this post because she is queen! I have just noticed that I haven't written much about reviewing books anyway but in a short summary:

1. I try and write the review as soon as I finish they book.
2. I always take notes!!
3. I try and structure my reviews from the notes I take.
4. It takes me around half and hour to write up the review and a couple of days after to proof read.
5. I always mention how bad Divergent is.

New Years Resolutions||❤

1) To participate in the goodreads book challenge!

I have wanted to participate in this for quite a while but I just ft like starting it half way through the years was a bit of a waste of time and it felt like I cheated and I wanted it to be fair (I'm just odd, am I THE only one who do wordsearches in alphabetical order because it makes me feel better as  a person? Nope, alright I'm just a bit on the odd side)

2) Schedule blog posts before hand!

I am horrible at this, I end up writing the post on the day it should be published! This means I can't proof read my post properly and that leads to a load of grammatical mistakes, which are not nice for the reader.

3) Create a rating system!

Creating a rating system will probably clean up my posts a bit more. Instead of making the ratings for my reviews non contestant at the top of the post, I do think it should stand out a bit more. I was thinking about maybe either using normal stars or a set of bookworms!

4) Be more active on goodreads!

I feel like I have left goodreads on the side for  a while now and I want to interact with more book bloggers and with the group's I have joined. Recently, I have found myself participating more in discussions and making friend which I found exciting .

5)Have fun!

Next year I want to venture out and do stuff I would never do. I want to see another musical in the West End,  practice violin a lot more, finish tv series, start yoga, possibly start a youtube channel and just enjoy life!

1)What inspired you to start blogging?

I've always had a couple of blogs beforehand and they were horrible. They were mainly of me doing posts every couple of months with really bad quality photos. I then started a beauty blog which I did manage to keep but it wasn't my thing, I had a fashion blog which only lasted a while and then my friend told me about book blogging. I was quite unsure but I soon found myself posting more and I found a hobby I really loved!

2)Are your family avid readers

My parents do read quite a lot and were the ones who encouraged me to read more, my sister is not a big fan of reading, my brother reads once in a while it's usually James Bond or the Hobbit and stuff like that, my oldest brother loves to read! He is not really fiction but books about politics

3)How many books do you on average read in a month?

On average I read around 5 books a month! Sometimes I read more but I try to concentrate more on the content and pick out the details for my reviews.

4)Where do you read?

I mainly read in my room sitting on my bed, sometimes I sit down on the sofa with the tv playing softly in the background and sometimes when I eat my breakfast, my mum doesn't agree with reading at the table though!

5)What do you do if you fall into a reading slump?

What I would do is re read a book which really made me smile and if that doesn't work I wouldn't force myself to read but I would take a break and somehow read some short stories. There is always Wattpad to!!

6)What genre do you want to read more from?

Definitely sci-go because I have started to t even more and fantasy and paranormal because they have really caught my attention this year!

7)Do you review every book you read?

No, sometimes it isn't necessary and I read the most random books all the time like One Direction Annuals from 3years ago!

8)How do you rate book?
To get an exact rate on my books what I do is I make notes in my notebook on the book I am reading whilst reading it. After writing the review I look over my notes and give a rough rating from them, I usually do stars but I might change it to bookworms!

9)What's your favourite quote from a book?
As he read, I fell in love the way you fall asleep;slowly and then all at once-The Fault In Our Stars

10)What was the last book you gave 5stars to?
I don't actually remember as Iam quite picky when giving out 5 stars now but I think it was for The Coldest Girl In Coldtown.

Insurgent Trailer!||❤

The Insurgent Trailer has finally come out!! But....wait for it.....I found it boring. I thought that some parts of the trailer weren't actually in the book from what I remember. Also, I thought things were over dramatised that it actually was hilarious. COME ON TOBIAS YOU COULD'VE WAITED FOR THE TRAIN TO GO PAST!  

I won't lie but I am genuinely excited for this one. I hope it isn't as horrible as the book was. I have kind of high hopes for this film. I at first thought that the clip in the trailer when Tris is jumping off the building was a troll but nope, it is actually in the film. I don't really think I can take that part seriously!

Zoella's Ghostwritten Book-My Opinion||❤

Hi guys,
So today I decided to talk about a topic which has been the talk on twitter and in the newspapers recently. We were all quite shocked when we found out that Zoella's book was actually ghostwritten. It caused rage and hate which was very much uneeded for. In my honest opinion I don't really mind it was ghost written it is not like it is uncommon to get help to write the book. At least it involved all of her ideas and maybe she just needed help because of her busy schedule to finish the book up.

I do not think I can judge Zoe in anyway possible as I have not read the book myself so I wouldn't know if the book actually 'screams ghostwritten.' What was the most interesting part about this was that people were enraged due to the fact that she didn't actually admit it herself (not entirely sure if she said so or not) and they expected her to have so much time in her hands to keep track of her youtube, beauty range and blog. I do think that people were overreacting to this completely and acted like Zoe didn't think of any of the characters or ideas. We all know the book is based on her blogging career and her personality but she did put a twist to it. There is nothing wrong with having your book ghostwritten as it has happened so many times before and isn't alien to any of us but as soon as Zoe's book is revealed to be ghostwritten then World War 3 started on twitter!

Although it isn't illegal to not mention or give credit to the ghostwriter, I do think that at least somewhere where the copyright part of the book is then maybe in tiny writing it should say their name and what they have helped to do. One ridiculous thing which did make me laugh was that somepeople wanted the ghostwriter's name plastered at the front of the book with the authors one!

Random Ramblings||❤

Hi Guys,
As the title says, I will be rambling a bit and todays topic is *drum roll* MUSIC!! Woop woop (enter confetti and strobe lighting!) Yep! Something you might not know about me is that I am obsessed with music and anything to do with musicals. I tend to irritate people by belting out Colours Of The Wind in science and pretending I'm Elsa, but everyone does that......right?

If you haven't heard of this musical, what planet have you been living on?! I went to see it early this year and it sure was spell bounding! I found that the musical was way better than the book and I knew every single song already. My fave song is definitely For Good, it had me bawling my eyes out!

These guys are my favourite band. My school planner is covered in their lyrics and my instagram feed has constant photos and memes of them. I love the feel they have to their music and it just makes you feel free whenever you listen to their music. Plus they all look like awesome guys and they are hilarious in their interviews!

I lurvvvee Taylor Swift now! Her music is just so catchy and always puts my mood up when I'm down. I love how she deals with all the hate and she comes across as a genuinely nice person! She isn't snobby or big-headed! She is gorgeous as well and I am turning towards the Swifty route.

ASDFGGHKKL! She is actually perfect. Her music moves me so much and makes you feel so independent and strong. She is beautiful, talented and just amazing. I love her and her music!

This band is the definition of phenomenal they are just real, I love their sound and they are perf. Their music might not be everyones cup of tea but this is THE BAND!!

This is some of my music taste as I have many more to show but the post was going to have like 10 rock bands with lengthy paragraphs to them! I might even make this a weekly thing for myself!

Plus, I bought my advent calender a couple of days ago and it is making me feel so christmasy!!

My Favourite Wattpad Stories||❤

I have a current addiction to Wattpad. It is an amazing site where I can discover new books by people who aren't even published yet but write like professionals. Some people think that Wattpad is a place where One Direction Fan-Fictions flood your page but hidden behind that are many amazing novels written by teenagers who end up being published! I am a big sucker for romance and if you look through my Wattpad you will find a hell-load of them. Sometimes I find myself staying up until 4am just to finish stories! This book isn't finished but words cannot describe how much I love this book. It is amazingly written and I find myself waiting every week for a new chapter and it is on my head all the time. I even archived this book so that whenever it is updated I can read it off my phone from the Wattpad app anywhere.

F.A.I.T.H: A Dorm.A Deliquent.A Girl.//

Bloody hell this is amazing! I cried my eyes out when I found out that it had ended. It is written in form of a movie (not a script) and those were probably the best 86 (I think) chapters of a book I have ever read in my life. This book was just phenomenal. It shows you how being rich doesn't mean that you have the perfect life but they are as flawed as we are. BY FAR THE BEST BOOK I HAVE EVER READ ON WATTPAD, hands down. I found myself wiping a tear after reading this beautifully written. #f.a.i.t.hfamilyforlife

The Presidents Daughteer//

I sit behind my computer waiting for this one to be updated. It is just so darn good! I mean who thought that the presidents daughter disguised as a school girl would work as a story! It is absolutely amazing!!

The Only Girl In The Band//

I love how realistic this book is. It's not all about the perfect love story it is just different. It does cover sexism and how girls can be pushed out and used to attract attention. I love the cover of this book and I hope this gets published because so much effort was put into this book by the author!
