Book to Film Adaptations||❤

Hi Guys
Loads of books this year are being adapted into films and most of them I haven't read yet. I can't watch a film without reading the book and I vow to that and will never change that rule of mine. So these are a list of books I want to see the film of this year!

So my first pick is the Maze Runner. I watched the trailer of the film and didn't like it a single bit. I didn't like the book either but I'm just watching it so I can cringe and laugh at the emotional parts, Apparently in the film they don't have the telepathy thing going on and that was my favourite part of the book. I just want to see it so I can grill at it for not meeting my extremely high expectations. When it comes to films I am horrible, I didn't even enjoy The Fault in Our Stars that much *shock face*, yep I am quite a picky one,

I am a massive Hunger Games fan and stuck right by the books when people said that Divergent was better, I yawned through Divergent I found it boring and predictable. They have split the films into two parts which I find better because cramming that much action in 2 hours would be mind blowing!! I read the last book was confused for ages and ages about the whole thing, read it again, partly understood it but they say three is a lucky number so maybe if I read it once more I will understand the book. The ending just spoilt the book and I even warned my friends not to go through that gruelling end to such a wonderful series. I won't say what it was but I can't get over how much it hurt me when I was at the final blank pages searching for a bit more to make up for it.

So this is the film I am most excited about! It has already come out in cinemas but I need to read the book. The trailer is meh standard, didn't blow me away but apparently it is an amazing book. I am trying to creep away for Dystopia so this book will be essential for me. The Telegraph gave it a 2star rating like most newspapers and film review website so I'm hoping that the book the book will be amazing. Fingers crossed!

So these are the book to film adaptations I am yet to see. Hope you guys enjoy it and see you Monday!!

Keep Reading,
Naomi...xxx

Waiting On Wednesday||❤

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

The book I can't wait to be published is.......
The Remnants
by Anna Scanlon
Publication Date: November 13th

The Nazis have won WWII (or as it is now known, The Greatest War) almost 70 years ago. Having established an Elite class of descendants of former leaders during WWII, Stella Goering, great-granddaughter of Hitler's right-hand man, Hermann Goering, enjoys a privileged life in the capital of city of New Berlin (formerly New York City). There, citizens of the Reich live happily without the burdens of the racially inferior who have since become extinct.

As a daughter of the Elite, Stella has attained celebrity status. But she finds the bright lights and magazine write ups a constant distraction from her self-imposed destiny of serving the Reich as a doctor. She even finds the yearly ritual of all citizens testing their blood for purity more of a nuisance than a patriotic gesture. And as a daughter of the Elite, she must have it done publicly, in front of all of Germania. But this year, Stella's tests are showing something she never expected: her genes link her to a race she thought was long extinct: the Jews.

Convinced this is a plot from the Japanese to destroy the Reich's confidence in its leaders, Stella relies blindly on the Elite to protect her until the situation can be proved a conspiracy; otherwise she will be punished by death. After all, the Reich has always protected her. But Stella quickly learns that what's true and false in the Reich isn't so black and white and that those she's always trusted don't always have her best interest at heart…

Why I'm Waiting This Wednesday?
First of, I love historical books about the war or even before that so it ticks one box. Again, I have picked another book which has been made by a blogger called Anna. She is a student and has already written other books about the war, which have actually received excellent feedback on goodreads. What I really love is that she hasn't just done the casual beauty or fashionista type book but has actually dug deep enough to be able to talk about serious issues. I just love the description Amazon gave and it tells us how Jews were still an issue post WWII. I can't wait to buy this book and will preorder it later this week. This is probably book I am most excited about waiting for.

Products I Am Yet To Try&Exciting News||❤

Hello guys,
So I am yet again doing another beauty post because I am feeling like one at the moment and at the end of the post I will tell you what the exciting news it so look out for that part.

1.
These are the lipglosses I always find at superdrug but they never have the shades I would prefer. I always intend to buy them but never end up doing it, so, I really need to try it out seeing that Tanya Burr is one of my favourite youtubers and I feel bad for not even testing out her products months after they were released.

2.
Image from fanpop.com

So these lipbalms are what everyone is talking about. People claim it to be super moisturising and easy to use. I am on the hunt for a better lipbalm because vaseline is just not doing me good at the moment. I ran out of my nivea lip butter in caramel cream but my local boots and superdrug didn't have them and I didn't have time to travel that far to collect lipbalm. This is only currently selling at selfridges for £5 which I find ridiculous for not much product in the sphere. I don't want to waste £5 and then find it rubbish but I am praying that Superdrug or Boots decide to include them in their stores. Plus I know if I end up in Selfridges I will just spend all my money on high-end products and forget about the lipbalm completely. (I just noticed how much I have used the word lipbalm!)
So this was actually quite a short beauty post but I just needed to leave room for my exciting news!!

The exciting news is.....
I have been nominated for a liebster award by Anna @Enchanted By YA!! I am so excited about this and was surprised when this popped up in my comments section. I will do a post on that on Sunday and I am so excited to fill it out and I honestly never expected it to happen. I want to thank Anna so much for doing this for me and seriously I can't explain in words how excited I am about this. Plus if you guys could write down in the comments below, if you want to, some YA books that I would be interested in. I haven't found my genre yet but I am currently addicted to WattPad sci-fi and fantasy books. They are just awesome!

Waiting On Wednesday||❤

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

The book I can't wait to be published is.......
A Thousand Pieces Of You
by Claudia Gray
Publication Date: November 4th

Marguerite Caine’s physicist parents are known for their radical scientific achievements. Their most astonishing invention: the Firebird, which allows users to jump into parallel universes, some vastly altered from our own. But when Marguerite’s father is murdered, the killer—her parent’s handsome and enigmatic assistant Paul—escapes into another dimension before the law can touch him.

Marguerite can’t let the man who destroyed her family go free, and she races after Paul through different universes, where their lives entangle in increasingly familiar ways. With each encounter she begins to question Paul’s guilt—and her own heart. Soon she discovers the truth behind her father’s death is more sinister than she ever could have imagined.

A Thousand Pieces of You explores a reality where we witness the countless other lives we might lead in an amazingly intricate multiverse, and ask whether, amid infinite possibilities, one love can endure.

Why Am I Waiting This Wednesday?

This is just the perfect book. I've never felt this way about something being released the excitement is unreal! Firstly, the cover is just assdfghjjkl (I just had to), Secondly, the blurb blew my mind and Lastly, parallel universes. Enough said. I just want a firebird.

The Maze Runner-A Book Review||❤

Hi Guys!
So today is a book review and the book I have recently finished is The Maze Runner by James Dashner. This always popped up on the Amazon page and was intrigued by the title and it did seem quite interesting. One of my friends told me to watch the movie trailer and I did which I feel bad for doing so because I always vow not to watch the film or trailer of a book before I read it. I watched the trailer expecting to be mind-blown and craving more like other trailers but it was all a big yawn for me. It just didn't get me excited enough for the book and I started to regret even buying it in the first place. It was just too much for me!
The goodreads description- "If you ain't scared, you ain't human."

When Thomas wakes up in the lift, the only thing he can remember is his name. He's surrounded by strangers--boys whose memories are also gone.

Outside the towering stone walls that surround the Glade is a limitless, ever-changing maze. It's the only way out--and no one's ever made it through alive.

Then a girl arrives. The first girl ever. And the message she delivers is terrifying."

So...... the description is quite off putting and doesn't really fit with the book to be honest. And what made me despise the book a tiny bit was on my copy it said, 'For people who love the Hunger Games.' No, just no. What I hate the most is comparing books to other books. I love the Hunger Games the books are just phenomenal but this book is nothing like the Hunger Games. I don't see any districts or a MIXED group of teenagers killing eachother to win the Games. First of all, the characters know nothing about where they are but in the Hunger Games they do. Wait, where is the tv broadcast and the star-crossed lover................still checking...... nope can't find it. Enough of my ranting let's actually talk about the book!

So the teens have had their memories wiped by WICKED. They have been sent to the Glade, where they reside, as an experiment to see how they would react and adapt to different situations. Once every month a new boy or a 'greenie' as they say is sent in a box to the Glade and every week food and medical supplies.Obviously the main goal is to escaped but the problem is they are surrounded by walls and behind those walls is the Maze. Every day at the same time each gate made out of stone- the North, South, East and West gates- opens and closes for the night. There is a twist, the Maze's walls rotate and move every single day and have done for the past 2 years. Every single day a group of runners would go out, map their routes then race back. But, the Maze is infested with slug like creatures with various metal weapons hidden beneath their slimy skin, with one fatal sting they can kill you unless you are quick enough to recieve the something Serum which is provided by the creators of the Maze. That's all I can really say about the book either I will go on for donkey years.

Overall I would give this book a 2/5 mainly because of the slow start, the sloppy 'romance', how it dragged on, the slang for me was impossible to understand, it seemed quite boring, I didn't connect with any of the characters, it was no surprise of what was going to happen, the description was cringeworthy. The only good thing about it was the plot and the concept of having the Maze but other than that, it wasn't a biggie for me. It did not excite me at all and I am desperately awaiting a book which actually will. If only the book was written well enough and the aggressive talk, which was meant to be intimidating, didn't make me snigger. Maybe I have gotten over the Dystopia phase a long time ago, maybe I just need to find another genre which will meet my standards.

Waiting On Wednesday||❤

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

The book I can't wait to be published is.......
Girl Online
by Zoe Sugg.
Publication Date: November 25th

22510983

From Goodreads:

I had no idea GirlOnline would take off the way it has - I can't believe I now have 5432 followers, thanks so much! - and the thought of opening up to you all about this is terrifying, but here goes...

Penny has a secret.

Under the alias GirlOnline, she blogs about school dramas, boys, her mad, whirlwind family - and the panic attacks she's suffered from lately. When things go from bad to worse, her family whisks her away to New York, where she meets the gorgeous, guitar-strumming Noah. Suddenly Penny is falling in love - and capturing every moment of it on her blog.

But Noah has a secret too. One that threatens to ruin Penny's cover - and her closest friendship - forever.

Why I'm Waiting This Wednesday?
Well, I have been a big fan of Zoe's blog for over two years (I think the end of 2011) and it was amazing and I loved how she wrote each post. I just want to see if she can really excite me with the book. Although the description sounds very cliché I still want to get my hands on the book and see if it is really worth my money.

Lip Balm Favourites||❤

Hello!
Today I will be reviewing one of my all time favourite lipbalms..... *drum roll* the Nivea Lip Butter. Oh my gosh I can not rave about these cute tins enough I mean it is moisturising, small and is at a brilliant price, only £2:50. People may find it a bit pricey but compared to the maybelline baby lips which claims to have 8 hours moisturisation, more like 8 minutes, is for £3 which is not worth the tiny tube they give you.
This creamy lipbalm is literally a god send! It last for 3-4 hours without drying out the lips, you only need one coat and it is soo affordable. You could just pop into your local superdrug or boots and it would be there do you.

Advantages
  • Super Creamy
  • Long Lasting
  • Moisturising
  • Compatible
  • Affordable
Disadvantages:
  • Finger Application- It might seem unhygienic to those who don't want to keep on dipping in grubby fingers then applying it straight to the lips.
Overall, this is the best lipbalm I have ever used. I have hit pan on this one and I'm still scraping at the last non-existent parts. I was deeply saddened when I walk into the local superdrug to find that it had sold out before hand. Oh well, luckily enough I picked up a Palmer's Cocoa Butter Lip Balm with Spf 15 which I am yet to do a review on.
Lots of Love,
Naomi...xxx

Any Red-Blooded Girl-A Book Review||❤

Hi Guys!
I was looking around my kindle at some YA Reads and this one popped up. I clicked on it eagerly, found out that it was free (A big win for me.) and read it in a night. Not because I liked it so much it is because I am quite a quick reader and can finish a book in less that 24 hours with a cup of tea and a packet of hobnobs. The book was 203 pages (With real page numbers!) well that was what Amazon told me. I just wanted a book, no need for the useless details. To be honest this book had so many problems in that this will be more of a rant than a book review. Grab a cuppa and enjoy this essay on why I despise of this book so much.
Goodreads description; The last thing fifteen-year-old Flora Fontain wants to do is spend her summer vacation stuck in a tent with her overprotective parents and angst-ridden brother, especially when she should be in Europe with her best friend Jessie-sipping espresso, posing for cutesy tourist pics, and hunting for hot Italian (or French, or maybe even English) stud-muffins.

But since her parents trust her about as much as they trust a cat burglar at the moment, Flora has no choice but to suffer through the boyfriend-less summer of her discontent from the back of a rented SUV, until Fate tosses a sexy, sophisticated gypsy boy into her path, making Flora wonder if destiny might know best after all.

That is until destiny screws up, big time. Because just as Flora falls head over heels, an unexpected turn of events threatens to land her in the slammer - or worse, separate her from the man of her dreams.

*yawns* I don't even know why I bothered to read this book. So Flora goes on a six day holiday with her family at a huge campsite. Whilst lost she catches the eye of a gyspy boy called Mick and their romance blossoms. Well I thought she wasn't going to see the boy until the last day but noooo they fell in love in less that 48hours!! That really bugged me and it made me laugh so much. They are complete strangers who end up kissing eachother and saying 'I love you' and they haven't even properly got to know him. It is a six day holiday not a summer camp!!!! (excuse the excessive exclamation marks it is a way to show my hate for the book.) It was just plain annoying, then the next day Flora has been introduced to Mick's parents. I don't get it it isn't even her third day there and they are doing what people who have been dating for months do. Just ridiculous really. Then ooo suddenly she is in a big mess up and who will save her! Boringg, it was the worst ending ever but I won't say it or it will spoil the book if you want to read it (please just don't). I'm so glad that I didn't pay for  it because that would be money straight down the drain.
Overall, I would give this book a 1/5 no just a 0/5 it annoyed me so much and I dont know how I survived to the end of the horrendous book.
Keep Reading,

Lana Del Rey-Style Steal||Fashion❤

Hi Guys,
This post might be a surprise for you guys, right? Well I have decided that having seperate blogs for all my interests is just too complicated to keep them both active. I have decided just to mash everything into one blog. The timetable for it will be books on Monday and Wednesdays, and other things on Fridays and maybe even Sundays if I have time.

So today will be a bit of a style steal where I will show you guys pictures of Lana Del Rey on a normal day and give you guys affordable clothing which you can wear and buy in your daily life!

So as you can see Lana (Elizabeth Woolridge Grant) wears casual clothing yet looks classy at the same time. So I found some clothing from different shops and made a polyvore set on it. Also I will link all of the clothing afterwards so you can check it out yourself.

Lana Del Rey Style Steal by unicornslvrainbows featuring Topshop

Vero Moda sleeveless shirt
£19.95 - veromoda.com

Topshop white t shirt

I would advise you to just pop into primark, where they have loads of shoes, and but yourself a pair for around £5 but primark doesn't have an online store so you would have to take a trip outside.

The Fault In Our Stars-Film Review Friday||❤

So, I took a trip to the cinema with my friends so we could watch The Fault In Our Stars together and could laugh at our hideous crying faces. Being a big fan of the book I was expecting a lot from the film and the cast of the film and the director and wanted it to stay loyal to the book and it definitely did!
The film follows the lives of two teenage terminal-cancer patients Hazel-Grace Lancaster (Shailene Woodley) and Augustus Waters (Ansel Elgort). I'm going to add the amazon description from the dvd because I just tried to explain the film and put a hell lotta spoilers; Hazel and Gus are two teenagers who share an acerbic wit, a disdain for the conventional, and a love that sweeps them on a journey. Their relationship is all the more miraculous given that Hazel's other constant companion is an oxygen tank, Gus jokes about his prosthetic leg, and they met and fell in love at a cancer support group. Based on the best-selling novel by John Green.

I was so excited as soon as the film started and I really did find the first part funny to put up the mood in the cinema before the pain and tears hit you. I did hear a couple of sobs when the first said 'okay' to eachother which just made me smile a bit. A couple of people were sniffing quite loudly when he surprises her and a full on bawl near the end. I found that they missed out the most vital bits personally for me, in the book Augustus is explained so well whereas in the film he comes across as a creepy teen who likes to stare at 'beautiful' teens. We know nothing about Hazel's friend from highschool called Kaitlyn who she goes to the mall with and the part when a little girl asks Hazel if she can wear her Cannula, the swing set scene (the best one) and most importantly Augustus' deceased girlfriend Caroline Mathers. Those parts of the book were what I was waiting for in the film and was dissapointed when they didn't turn up.

My favourite character? Well of course it has to be Isaac, with his wide sense of humour he did steal the show. I would say next Hazel mainly because Shailene Woodley portrayed the character so well. I didn't really think that Ansel Elgort fitted Augustus for me, his smile did get quite annoying throughout the film and was just too jolly for my liking. It is good to always be bright but leave it for the right moments.
The ending!!! It spoilt the whole film for me the whole cinema literally stopped crying when the film ended. I could hear everyone saying, "The end just spoilt the film!" I kept straight face and didn't feel as moved from the letter in the film as the letter. I just didn't get ending it with "Okay Hazel Grace?" I thought Augutus sent the letter to Van Houten not Hazel Grace it just didn't make any sense to me and sat there as the light went on with a confused expression on my face.

Overall I would give the film a 3/5 because it didn't impress me a lot but I do have very high expectations. Maybe I'm a bit picky when it comes to films?

I'd Tell You I Love You, But Then I'd Have To Kill You-A Book Review||❤

Hi guys!
I'm sorry for not being active this week. I was in Brighton yesterday, I woke up so early and I barely got any sleep the night before and I arrived home quite late too so there was no time to really do a post. On Monday and Tuesday I was a bit ill so I didn't feel well enough to be staring at my computer screen for an hour.
Enough about that, today I will be reviewing a book I have recently just picked up and that is the first of the Gallagher Girls series. I used to be obsessed with any spy based book like the Young Bond, Alex Rider, Cherub etc, and I wanted to revisit my phase and read more action based books. I picked out this one because first it is a YA book and second the cover was just too good not to buy it.
The goodreads description says, 'Cammie Morgan is a student at the Gallagher Academy for Exceptional Young Women, a fairly typical all-girls school-that is, if every school taught advanced martial arts in PE and the latest in chemical warfare in science, and students received extra credit for breaking CIA codes in computer class. The Gallagher Academy might claim to be a school for geniuses but it's really a school for spies. Even though Cammie is fluent in fourteen languages and capable of killing a man in seven different ways, she has no idea what to do when she meets an ordinary boy who thinks she's an ordinary girl. Sure, she can tap his phone, hack into his computer, or track him through town with the skill of a real "pavement artist"-but can she maneuver a relationship with someone who can never know the truth about her? '

So first of all I really liked the concept of the book, young and intelligent female spies who are trained to become worldwide spies. The school, Gallagher Academy, is covered up as an elite boarding school for the 'poshies' as the local townspeople say. I liked how a bit of romance was slipped into it which made things even better. The school was different and interesting and I liked the parts when they were in the dining hall and had to speak to eachother in different languages. I also found it odd how boys had crushes on her mother which I find quite creepy. The author tried to connect with teengaers and write it in a way which teenagers would understand the book but it didn't really work and I burst out laughing at the parts which weren't meant to be funny. The censoring on the b-word was hilarious and the reaction I had was that I was aching with laughter. It was meant to be a shocking moment but I couldn't help but snicker. It was a fun book and would like to see if the second book is any better so the series could redeem itself.

Magenta Orange- A Book Review||❤

Hi Guys,

I was digging through some books I have and I found an old book of mine with had me in stitches called Magenta Orange. I decided to re-read it after a long time and wanted to do a less childish and what I would think about it now review.
The goodreads description says, "Magenta Orange is bright, sassy, and massively accident-prone. Her neighbour—and nearest thing to a best friend a boy can be—Daniel, tries hard to dissuade her from some of her more impulsive actions, but it's a tough job. Magenta has set her sights on Year 11 heart-throb, Adam Jordan, but all her attempts to impress him are thwarted by a series of mishaps. Adam is convinced she is a jinx and tries to avoid her at all costs—while Daniel spends his time trying to demonstrate his undying affection for Magenta. Will the best man win?"

First of all the cover, I mean this used to scare me a bit. Just a picture of someones teeth, how nice! I didn't think this was necessary at all. It was kind of off putting but I didn't buy it my sister did. So negative points for the cover. The actual book, well I did find parts funny and stuff but it was poorly written. It was hilarious and I'm not going to lie about that but the format was just not for me. The concept of a girl having a crush on an older boy but then doesn't notice that her best friend has a crush on her has been overly used. It is so similar to the Georgia Nicholson series, the concept actually got boring after a while.

I had my favourite parts which I will not mention so I can lessen the amount of spoilers involved in my blogs but I did find it humorous. The classic teenage sarcasm had me laughing because we are/were all guilty of slipping that in whilst talking to parents or teachers.
I would give this book a 3/5, mainly because I found it quite similar to other books and a bit boring but learnt extra points for the well thought of jokes!
Sorry for the short review this week it is just that I'm still searching for a YA book so if you can, comment what books you have heard of or read that would be nice.

Keep Reading,
Naomi...
